URocked was inspired from a personal place from our founder, but also from a time with massive impact in our lives

WHERE WE BEGAN
It all began when David, URocked’s Founder, saw the problem first hand: “I was out at a restaurant and was unable to leave a tip for our waiter, we did not have any cash on us and the waiter was unable to take tips on the credit card machine - there was no way round it and I felt like I was letting them down, I wanted to say thanks, but we were stuck with no way to do it."
Later, I found out after some research that this is normally a decision taken by the company as they could incur costs in accepting the tip. Which can include extra merchant service fees, potential VAT implications, and the time and effort in trying to manage and distribute these tips on payroll. As much as I see the problem there, it’s not one that I knew couldn’t be fixed.”
This highlights an issue customers have all the time - they don’t have the clarity they need to tip with confidence and there’s still issues understanding what the difference is between Tips and Service Charges are, where Tips go and how to best give them.
URocked can be a way around all this, clearing up the grey areas for both customers and the workforce, as until this year, laws did not support them.
URocked had already begun in early 2020, then the pandemic hit and we knew more than ever that we had to help the workforce through one of the hardest times, as people in service and hair and beauty industries, in particular suffered with closures.
A SOLUTION FOR THE BETTER
Firstly, because we can do better for everyone: workers, customers and employers.
We can relieve Employers of the cost of tipping via card, the time it takes to distribute it and any fees they might have taking tips this way.
Customers can be reassured that 100% of the tip always reaches the intended person, taking any awkwardness out of tipping and by using a separate process, it’s simple, it’s quick and it’s far more discrete.
Workers now have laws that support tips not being held by employers - and we want to make sure they have a tool to support that. Making getting tips easy to manage, safer with no cash carried and more appropriate in a more cashless world.
